Heartburn is a chronic disease that can produce pain in the esophagus. It can be categorized into two, mild and severe heartburn. Mild heartburn can be cured by ordinary antacid. However, severe heartburn needs full medical attention. Severe heartburn can deeply affect your health and may even lead to serious health problems. Failing to cure heartburn can pose serious threat to your body. Heartburn can produce scars on the esophagus, which makes it hard for a person to swallow. It also causes severe pain on the chest, which can lead to serious damages to your esophagus and stomach. In addition, severe heartburn can also lead to cancer of esophagus. This type of cancer is dangerous to your body as it can lead to spending huge amount of money or even death.

Causes of Heartburn

Heartburn is actually the result of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). This type of disease is a chronic symptoms or mucosal damage formed by the abnormal reflux in the esophagus. Heartburn is also characterized by pain in the throat, mainly on the part where the esophagus is located. If the condition worsens, the person experiencing heartburn will have difficulty in swallowing due to pain.

Heartburn is also the result of having such an unhealthy life. It can be through food, drinks, or medicines that can increase stomach acid secretion and eventually cause heartburn. Some of these are caffeine, alcohol, medicines, carbonated beverages, grape juices, acidic foods and chocolates. Massive intake of smoke and beer can also result to severe heartburn. Drinking can increase the secretion of acid produced by the stomach, which produces agonizing pain in the esophagus.

Cure for Heartburn

The best way to cure heartburn is to consult a doctor. Usually, a doctor would prescribe some medicines that can help you cure heartburn and prevent it from coming back. You also need to stay in the hospital for about a week or two for medication. However, there is a saying that prevention is better than cure. If you want your body to be free from heartburn, then you should take care of your body by eating nutritious foods and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
